God's Promise to David(A)

7Later on the king was settled in his palace(B) and the Lord had given him rest from all his enemies(C) around him,(D) twohe said to Nathan(E) the prophet, "Hither I am, living in a house(F) of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent."(Yard)

threeNathan replied to the king, "Whatever you accept in mind,(H) go ahead and do information technology, for the Lord is with you."

4But that dark the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying:

5"Become and tell my servant David, 'This is what the Lord says: Are you(I) the one to build me a house to dwell in?(J) 6I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this twenty-four hour period.(K) I take been moving from place to place with a tent(Fifty) as my habitation.(M) 7Wherever I have moved with all the Israelites,(Northward) did I ever say to any of their rulers whom I commanded to shepherd(O) my people Israel, "Why have you non built me a business firm(P) of cedar?(Q)"'

8"Now then, tell my servant David, 'This is what the Lord Almighty says: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock,(R) and appointed y'all ruler(South) over my people Israel.(T) 9I have been with yous wherever yous have gone,(U) and I have cut off all your enemies from before yous.(V) At present I will brand your name great, similar the names of the greatest men on earth.(W) 10And I volition provide a identify for my people Israel and will constitute(10) them and so that they can have a home of their own and no longer exist disturbed.(Y) Wicked(Z) people will not oppress them anymore,(AA) as they did at the commencement xiand take done ever since the time I appointed leaders[a] (AB) over my people Israel. I will too give you rest from all your enemies.(Ac)

"'The Lord declares(Advertisement) to you that the Lord himself will establish(AE) a house(AF) for y'all: 12When your days are over and you remainder(AG) with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed yous, your ain mankind and blood,(AH) and I will plant his kingdom.(AI) 13He is the one who volition build a firm(AJ) for my Proper name,(AK) and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.(AL) 14I volition be his father, and he will be my son.(AM) When he does wrong, I will punish him(AN) with a rod(AO) wielded past men, with floggings inflicted by human hands. 15Only my love will never be taken away from him,(AP) equally I took information technology abroad from Saul,(AQ) whom I removed from before you. xviYour business firm and your kingdom volition suffer forever before me[b]; your throne(AR) will be established(Every bit) forever.(AT)'"

17Nathan reported to David all the words of this entire revelation.

David's Prayer(AU)

eighteenAnd so King David went in and sat before the Lord, and he said:

"Who am I,(AV) Sovereign Lord, and what is my family unit, that you lot have brought me this far? xixAnd as if this were not enough in your sight, Sovereign Lord, you take also spoken near the future of the house of your servant—and this decree,(AW) Sovereign Lord, is for a mere human![c]

xx"What more can David say(AX) to y'all? For you know(AY) your servant,(AZ) Sovereign Lord. 21For the sake of your word and according to your will, you lot accept done this great thing and made it known to your servant.

22"How great(BA) you are,(BB) Sovereign Lord! At that place is no one like(BC) yous, and at that place is no God(BD) but you, as nosotros have heard with our own ears.(BE) 23And who is similar your people State of israel(BF)—the one nation on world that God went out to redeem as a people for himself, and to make a proper noun(BG) for himself, and to perform dandy and awesome wonders(BH) by driving out nations and their gods from earlier your people, whom you redeemed(BI) from Arab republic of egypt?[d] 24You have established your people State of israel as your very own(BJ) forever, and you, Lord, have become their God.(BK)

25"And now, Lord God, keep forever the hope(BL) you take fabricated apropos your servant and his house. Do every bit you promised, 26then that your proper name(BM) will be great forever. Then people volition say, 'The Lord Almighty is God over State of israel!' And the house of your servant David will be established(BN) in your sight.

And then your servant has institute courage to pray this prayer to yous. 28Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy,(BO) and y'all have promised these good things to your retainer. 29Now exist pleased to bless the house of your servant, that information technology may proceed forever in your sight; for you, Sovereign Lord, have spoken, and with your blessing(BP) the business firm of your servant will be blessed forever."
